Environmentally Friendly Laundry Softener

Making your own fabric softener is easy and can be done to keep our sacred Waters clean, free from toxins!
The products we use in our laundry contain unnecessary chemicals and additives. When you have a kit of your own favourite Essential Oils, from there it becomes very easy to make DIY lifehacks for cleaning products and laundry. One of my favourite fabric softener DIY is using vinegar. When adding vinegar and a few drops of essential oils to your laundry machine’s spot where you can add the “softening” this gives my clothes a fresh scent – using just two ingredients.

First, vinegar acts as a natural softening agent by dissolving hard water buildup without leaving residue behind. You won’t even notice the vinegar scent after your clothes have dried.

You can choose any number of essential oils to add to this recipe depending on your preferred aroma. Lemon, Grapefruit, and Peppermint are great options or Lavender and Geranium oils that have soothing, conditioning properties. Whatever you decide to use, your clothes will come out feeling softer and smelling nicer.

16 ounces white vinegar
10–15 drops Lavender or Geranium oil

Add essential oils to a glass bottle.
Fill the remaining space with warm white vinegar.
Shake well before each use to ensure oils and vinegar are well combined.
Add to the laundry machine’s “softener” area when you start your laundry.

Here is another recipe, you can also use this by spraying it on the clothes before using the drying machine. See recipe from: Doterra
